yay!!! our first blog

Hi everyone, here we are! Hopefully you have heard from us? We've both been pretty busy settling into life over here. Getting jobs has been interesting, but luckily we have the lovely Miranda looking out for us... Mmm, maybe moreso me though??!!! Monday the 26th Feb saw Tom go to a totally awful awful school; tables on fire, bust ups between arabs and african kids, blackboard being ripped off the wall in attempts to get weaponry... -you get the drift. Whilst I went to the dreamy girls school in Westminister for 3 days with views of the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye and young women doing EXACTLY as they were told. Yesterday we had a church service in Westminister Abbey. Words cannot describe how simply stunning it was. As i arrived (in similar style to Elizabeth 1) the senior girls gospel choir were 'choralling' a heart felt tune about their roots, as I took a seat next to Ben Disraeli's statue. Ther service was 2 hours, and it flew by. I find out today or tomorrow whether I have the job there on an ongoing basis. Please cross everything you can. Tom is currently -as i type this- teaching a Year 11 revision English class to some bright bunch of academics near Camden somewhere. Schools observe you teaching over here before you actually get a job or an interview. Very nerve wracking! Our house is sensational. We are living with our friend Adrian (who we both taught with at East Doncaster) Massimo (a lovely Italian) and Arabella (a gorgeous french woman). Adrian has spoilt us rotten getting us set up in our room and really making us feel at home. We have also seen a lot of Miranda Pickup which has been *great*. She seems like all of our friends rolled up into one great girl. We both adore her. We've seen a lot of sights, done the double-decker tourist bus thing, pictures to follow soon when i figure it out.... Lots of Love, Lucy and Tom :-) xxxooo

  1. Hello there, fellow Aussies living and teaching abroad!!!!

Great to hear you are loving it. I wish Tom had stayed at the blackboard "as a deadly weapon" jungle type school, as then i would have someone to comiserate with.
My class just won the attendence cup for being at school more often than anyone else. Why don't the little buggers just stay home???!!

Anywho, love to you both. I hope you still have plans to come visit at halloween!!!!!!
