We had YET ANOTHER great weekend here in the Northern Hemisphere... This time it was in Cumbria to visit the oh-so-lovely Lakes district and some beautiful people called Anne and Gilly!
It was a true "Fawcett" family affair. I'm not sure how but Anne and Melva (Tom's Mum) are related, but they are, and Eliza, Toms cousin was persuaded to change her euro tour and come with us which was a bonus! We had a fun couple of days!
We visited old stone circles, beautiful lakes and enoyed the warm, caring and incredibly kind hospitality from Anne and Gilly!
Egypt blog has been delayed, but it is coming!!!

Long Meg and her daughters. One of the finest stone circles in the north of England, the circle has a diameter of about 350 feet, the second biggest in the country. Long Meg is the tallest of the 69 stones, about 12 feet high, with three mysterious symbols, its four corners facing the points of the compass and standing some 60 feet outside the circle.
From Left, Gilly, Pat and Lucy -Long Meg.The stones probably date from about 1500 BC, and it was likely to have been used as a meeting place or for some form of religious ritual. Long Meg is made of local red sandstone, whereas the daughters are boulders of rhyolite, a form of granite.
